The Vocational Nursing Program at Central Coast College equips students with the essential knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to excel as a Vocational Nurse in a dynamic healthcare environment. The program is approved by the BVNPT as an accredited training program, the completion of which meets the minimum requirements set forth as necessary for application to take the Vocational Nurse License examination. The program includes 13 Weeks and 21 Weeks credit clock hour terms, consisting of five consecutive terms of instruction. The total program is completed over four terms. The program curriculum includes progression of learning from basic to more complex concepts, and to specialty nursing concepts.

A vocational nurse provides basic nursing care, monitors patients, administers medications, assists with daily activities, and supports registered nurses and doctors in hospitals, clinics, and long-term care facilities.

Central Coast College’s Vocational Nursing program can be completed in as few as 61 weeks (full-time program) or 84 weeks (part-time program).

Central Coast College’s Vocational Nursing program is offered in-person. Students learn in the classroom, completing hands-on training in labs on-campus. All students also gain valuable experience through an externship.

Many of Central Coast College’s Vocational Nursing graduates go to work in clinics, doctors’ offices, medical groups, surgery centers, and specialty clinics such as pediatrics, oncology, and neurology. Our Career Services department provides every student with a wide range of career support services and comprehensive job placement assistance.

In Central Coast College’s Vocational Nursing program, you’ll gain real-world skills including how to administer medications, document patients’ signs and symptoms, and perform therapeutic and rehabilitative measures. Our hands-on training prepares you for the tasks employers are hiring for, so you can step confidently into your healthcare career.
