ULTRASOUND TECHNICIAN ASSOCIATE OF APPLIED SCIENCE DEGREE PROGRAM
The UT AAS program has a hybrid-online format, combining theory coursework, hands-on training, and an externship in order to provide students with critical real-world experience. The UT AAS has a total program length of 108 weeks and builds on the Ultrasound Technician diploma by adding General Education and science courses which are offered 100% online.
Graduates receive an Associate of Applied Science, Ultrasound Technician degree and will be prepared to immediately enter into entry-level positions in the field.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects increasing growth in the Ultrasound Technology field as sonography becomes an increasingly attractive alternative to radiological procedures. The BLS projects the field of ultrasound technology will grow at a rate of 12% annually through 2029, adding approximately 15,600 new jobs to the economy.
Many ultrasound technicians/digital medical sonographers find positions in public and private hospitals; others work in private practices, physician offices, medical and diagnostic laboratories and outpatient care centers. As an ultrasound technician, you may choose to specialize in a particular area, including Obstetric and Gynecologic, Abdominal, Echocardiography, Neuro-brain, Breast Sonography, or Vascular Technology.
