What Will I Learn in CCC’s Phlebotomy Technician Program?
Under the supervision of dedicated, experienced instructors, students in CCC’s Phlebotomy Technician program learn:
- How to perform a variety of blood collection methods using proper techniques and precautions including vacuum collection devices, syringes, capillary skin puncture, and butterfly needles.
- How to perform blood culture specimen collection on adults, children and infants.
- Specimen handling, processing and accessioning.
- Infection prevention, proper patient identification, proper labeling of specimens, and quality assurance.
Are There Any Prerequisites for the Phlebotomy Technician Program?
CCC’s Phlebotomy Technician program is designed for students who are currently or have previously worked in the medical field and are seeking additional skills/certifications to add to their portfolio. Prerequisites for enrolling in the Phlebotomy Technician program include:
- High school diploma/GED
- Six months’ work experience in a healthcare setting, like Medical Assisting or Nursing Assistant – proof required
What Will I Get When I Complete CCC’s Phlebotomy Technician Program?
Upon completion of the Phlebotomy Technician program, graduates receive a Certificate of Completion, Phlebotomy Technician diploma, and will be prepared to test for certification through the State of California.
Where Can I Find a Job After Completing my Phlebotomy Program?
Phlebotomists are employed in a variety of settings, including hospitals, medical and diagnostic laboratories, blood donor centers, and doctors’ offices across the United States. According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, there is faster than average growth for phlebotomists, and the field is projected to grow 8% from 2022 to 2032, adding approximately 11,000 additional jobs to the U.S. economy.
