With Central Coast College, you can train to be a Medical Assistant or Veterinary Assistant in less than a year! CCC’s Medical Assisting program is achievable in as few as 46 weeks and is designed to prepare students for essential positions in the field of healthcare. Through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on experience in an externship, students learn medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, diagnostic and treatment procedures, medical office procedures and insurance billing. Graduates of the Medical Assisting program earn a Certificate of Completion, Diploma in Medical Assisting.
The Veterinary Assistant program is achievable in as few as 38 weeks and is designed to prepare students to work in the field of veterinary healthcare. Through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on experience in an externship, students learn how to prepare veterinary exam rooms, maintain and sterilize surgical instruments, intake animals for exams, feed, bathe, and exercise animals, restrain animals during procedures, give medications and immunizations, and care for and monitor animals after surgery or treatment. Upon completion of the program, graduates of the Veterinary Assistant program receive a Certificate of Completion, Diploma in Veterinary Assisting. Students who wish to pursue an advanced education may take an additional year of courses in order to obtain their Associate of Applied Science, Veterinary Technology degree.

Programs are offered in a hybrid-online format, so that students may complete much of their coursework online, while attending on-campus labs for hands-on skills development.
