The Ultrasound Technician Associate of Applied Science program is designed to enable students to develop enhanced critical thinking skills, greater scientific knowledge, and quality verbal/written communication skills, becoming more well-rounded professionals and more qualified job candidates.

The Ultrasound Technician Associate of Applied Science program has a hybrid-online format, combining theory coursework, hands-on training, and an externship in order to provide students with critical real-world experience. The UT AAS has a total program length of 108 weeks and builds on the Ultrasound Technician diploma by adding General Education and science courses which are offered 100% online.


Graduates receive an Associate of Applied Science, Ultrasound Technician degree and will be prepared to immediately enter into entry-level positions in the field.


Many ultrasound technicians/digital medical sonographers find positions in public and private hospitals; others work in private practices, physician offices, medical and diagnostic laboratories and outpatient care centers. As an ultrasound technician, you may choose to specialize in a particular area, including Obstetric and Gynecologic, Abdominal, Echocardiography, Neuro-brain, Breast Sonography, or Vascular Technology.
