Since 1997, Central Coast College’s Medical Assistant program has been providing students with the clinical and administrative skills needed for national certification and entry-level positions. Graduates of CCC’s MA program enter the healthcare field with confidence, equipped with the knowledge and practical skills needed to hit the ground running in their new positions. CCC is accredited by ACCET, the Accrediting Council on Continuing Education and Training, which holds high standards for program curriculum and post-graduation placement rates. Central Coast College’s MA program meets and even exceeds those standards; in 2020, 92% of MA graduates found job placement upon graduation from our program

CCC’s MA program has been designed to be as accessible as possible for busy and working students. Our flexible hybrid-online learning format includes a combination of hands-on instruction and online theory coursework. Students complete some modules online, and come on campus for labs. Under the supervision of experienced instructors, students practice completing critical clinical tasks and laboratory procedures. The MA program also offers open labs on Fridays for additional practice. The flexibility of the program makes it achievable even for busy, working parents. With CCC’s hybrid-online format, you can attend school to pursue your career goals, even while maintaining your current job and/or attending to family and caretaking responsibilities.

Learning from dedicated, experienced instructors, students in CCC’s Medical Assistant program learn the practical skills they need to enter the job market with confidence. Students learn to perform clinical and administrative tasks, including front office management, patient intake and preparing patients for procedures, measuring patients’ vital signs, administering medications and injections, and using the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system. Training modules teach medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology; diagnostic and treatment procedures, as well as medical office procedures and insurance billing. In addition to hands-on practice in supervised labs, students also receive real-world, on-the-job experience through an externship.

The Medical Assistant diploma program is achievable in as few as 46 weeks! Upon completion of the program, graduates receive a Certificate of Completion, Medical Assisting diploma and are prepared to test for the nationally-recognized CMA certification.

Graduates of Central Coast College’s MA program continue on into positions such as Medical Assistant, Medical Records and Health Information Technician, Medical Secretary, or Reception and Information Clerk. Some graduates even stay with the CCC family and become instructors of the MA program! Central Coast College currently employs 6 MA graduates as instructors; these healthcare professionals offer our students experience and support that makes a true difference in their training. Just read what former CCC student Sarah Pobre says about her current role as a MA instructor:

“As a former graduate from Central Coast College’s Medical Assistant Program, I feel such a sense of fulfillment being able to help guide students that choose our programs. I thoroughly enjoy having the opportunity to be a part of their journeys as they strive to achieve and meet their goals. I myself started my medical career here at Central Coast College because I wanted to make a difference in people’s lives. Now I get to help students achieve their dreams and make a difference in their lives so that they can go on and become the best healthcare worker and take what we have taught to help continue to change lives within our community!”
